To say the past couple of months have been busy is an understatement!!!! (hence the reason I am writing now) We have literally been non stop but I’m not complaining…it has been a BLAST!! The biggest developement has been me quitting my job. I have worked in escrow for the past 12 years, which was fun but I really wanted to be home with my kids. I mean five kids and two parents who work outside of the home…crazy…something had to give. I guess I’ll throw this in too really quickly, you see #ad on my photos sometimes and I know that rubs some people the wrong way but I think if people knew more about why I do it they wouldn’t leave the wonderful comments they sometimes do on my pictures. My Instagram started as a hobby and then over time (I’ve been posting for about 5 years) I realized that maybe this could be my job (a career not a job), one that allows me to be home with my kids. And that is just what happened. I was eventually able to earn money through my Instagram. I work with companies that we as a family use and like…if I post it, we use it and that’s the truth. However as a busy mom, I don’t have a lot of time to research the stuff I buy so occasionally I am educated on social media…which is good and terrifying all at the same time. All this is to say that I will have sponsored posts but please know that they are true and genuine. This is my career and a lot of work goes into each post…a lot! But the best part for me is that I am home with my kids and doing it all with them…and they love it.
So back to the past few months…the very first thing we did was hop on a flight to Michigan to see my family. I was born and raised in Michigan and I don’t get back nearly enough. I literally planned this trip two days before we left and Expedia saved me…love them for trip planning because their site is so easy to navigate and they always have the lowest prices for tickets. This is important when you are buying for seven people and its usually last minute…this is my life!!
The weather in good old Michigan can be pretty unpredictable. But for our trip, it was perfect. You may remember back…oh you know a couple of months ago on my stories me posting a shot of my mom’s Lake house. (If not watch the video 😉) She literally has a house in the middle of a lake on an island. It is really what the kids look forward to every time we go back. The kids get to water ski, swim, go tubing, EAT a lot of good food, and do it all with their cousins. You may also remember my stories of my mom’s other house…hahaha, she sort of LOVES Halloween. This is an old farm-house she is currently renovating. The kids also have a blast there riding the golf cart around, picking berries, and being half terrified to walk from room to room. I wish I had saved those stories because you may not even believe how crazy it is. It’s like Halloween at her house 24/7.
We also spent a few nights at the most amazing hotel in downtown Birmingham…this is where I grew and spent most of my formative years doing all of the very important things that teenagers do, shopping, eating, and shopping….I was a big shopper!! The Townsend Hotel is nestled in the heart of Birmingham and is beautiful. I took the girls to a princess themed High Tea…which was the highlight of their lives…they do such a good job making this tea magical for little girls. The pictures above and below do a way better job of conveying our time in the “Mitten State.”(although I feel like we had such a good time I forgot to take a lot of pics…lol!!) Or watch the video…I tried to capture some moments each day!
Oh and I have to take the time to shout out Dollar Car Rental !! They got us all around Michigan. Not only was the car soo cool and fit us all but the people at the airport for pick up and drop off were the nicest people on the plant. Not even kidding. My sister and I were like umm why are they so nice and happy? I don’t know…I feel like I don’t see that enough in the world…people in customer service actually happy! And the whole process could not have been easier. When I use to think of the actual process of renting a car and doing it with five kids in toe it literally hurt my brain, until now. I walked up, gave them my name, they said pick a car and I was off. I won’t use another company ever!
After Michigan we came back to Arizona and five days later were off again. This time it was just the girls and me. We headed to California for meetings and interviews. (more about that in another post) We stayed in Laguna Beach for a few days, at the Ritz Carlton…OUR FAVORITE resort there!!! The beach is amazing and not 100 miles from the hotel like many places are. The views are breathtaking and if you are on the club level you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. The staff is outstanding! I literally can’t say enough about this resort. If you are headed to the area, it is a must stay!! We pretty much played at the beach and the pool…the twins are a little afraid of the beach still so really we spend more time at the pool…ugh I know, what a shame. After Laguna we headed into Los Angeles for meetings and very minimal sight seeing. We stayed at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. This a great hotel with an even greater location. We could see the Hollywood sign from our room…so cool!
This is really a quick overview of our time the past few months. Like I said it has been crazy, overwhelming, and fun. Who knew that a few Mila videos would become so popular. We are still working on more videos, some with just Mila, and some with all of the kids so, stay tuned. We really only make them when the kids want to so it’s always unknown when we will have our next one. We are also going to dive into YouTube and post more vlog type videos!! I was thinking of doing a Q&A…is there anything you want to know about us? Anything you are dying to ask? Anything you want to see more of? Send me an email and I will do a post answering all of your questions. Thanks so much for all the support and sweet comments you all leave. You guys really are the best followers and are ultimately the reason why I am able to be home with my kids….for that alone, I owe you tremendously.
And more random photos because you know, sometimes you just can’t decide which one to post on Instagram…LOL!!
