WELL WE’VE BEEN BUSY!!!

To say the past couple of months have been busy is an understatement!!!!  (hence the reason I am writing now) We have literally been non stop but I’m not complaining…it has been a BLAST!!  The biggest developement has been me quitting my job.  I have worked in escrow for the past 12 years, which was fun but I really wanted to be home with my kids.  I mean five kids and two parents who work outside of the home…crazy…something had to give.  I guess I’ll throw this in too really quickly, you see #ad on my photos sometimes and I know that rubs some people the wrong way but I think if people knew more about why I do it they wouldn’t leave the wonderful comments they sometimes do on my pictures.  My Instagram started as a hobby and then over  time (I’ve been posting for about 5 years) I realized that maybe this could be my job (a career not a job), one that allows me to be home with my kids.  And that is just what happened.  I was eventually able to earn money through my Instagram.  I work with companies that we as a family use and like…if I post it, we use it and that’s the truth.  However as a busy mom, I don’t have a lot of time to research the stuff I buy so occasionally I am educated on social media…which is good and terrifying all at the same time.  All this is to say that I will have sponsored posts but please know that they are true and genuine.  This is my career and a lot of work goes into each post…a lot!  But the best part for me is that I am home with my kids and doing it all with them…and they love it.

So back to the past few months…the very first thing we did was hop on a flight to Michigan to see my family.  I was born and raised in Michigan and I don’t get back nearly enough. I literally planned this trip two days before we left and Expedia saved me…love them for trip planning because their site is so easy to navigate and they always have the lowest prices for tickets.  This is important when you are buying for seven people and its usually last minute…this is my life!!

The weather in good old Michigan can be pretty unpredictable.  But for our trip, it was perfect.  You may remember back…oh you know a couple of months ago on my stories me posting a shot of my mom’s Lake house. (If not watch the video 😉)  She literally has a house in the middle of a lake on an island.  It is really what the kids look forward to every time we go back.  The kids get to water ski, swim, go tubing, EAT a lot of good food, and do it all with their cousins.  You may also remember my stories of my mom’s other house…hahaha, she sort of LOVES Halloween.  This is an old farm-house she is currently renovating.  The kids also have a blast there riding the golf cart around, picking berries, and being half terrified to walk from room to room.  I wish I had saved those stories because you may not even believe how crazy it is.  It’s like Halloween at her house 24/7.

We also spent a few nights at the most amazing hotel in downtown Birmingham…this is where I grew and spent most of my formative years doing all of the very important things that teenagers do, shopping, eating, and shopping….I was a big shopper!!  The Townsend Hotel is nestled in the heart of Birmingham and is beautiful.  I took the girls to  a princess themed High Tea…which was the highlight of their lives…they do such a good job making this tea magical for little girls. The pictures above and below do a way better job of conveying our time in the “Mitten State.”(although I feel like we had such a good time I forgot to take a lot of pics…lol!!) Or watch the video…I tried to capture some moments each day!

Oh and I have to take the time to shout out Dollar Car Rental !! They got us all around Michigan.  Not only was the car soo cool and fit us all but the people at the airport for pick up and drop off were the nicest people on the plant.  Not even kidding. My sister and I were like umm why are they so nice and happy?  I don’t know…I feel like I don’t see that enough in the world…people in customer service actually happy!  And the whole process could not have been easier.  When I use to think of the actual process of renting a car and doing it with five kids in toe it literally hurt my brain, until now.  I walked up, gave them my name, they said pick a car and I was off.  I won’t use another company ever!

After Michigan we came back to Arizona and five days later were off again.  This time it was just the girls and me.  We headed to California for meetings and interviews. (more about that in another post)  We stayed in Laguna Beach for a few days, at the Ritz Carlton…OUR FAVORITE resort there!!! The beach is amazing and not 100 miles from the hotel like many places are.  The views are breathtaking and if you are on the club level you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.  The staff is outstanding!  I literally can’t say enough about this resort.  If you are headed to the area, it is a must stay!!  We pretty much played at the beach and the pool…the twins are a little afraid of the beach still so really we spend more time at the pool…ugh I know, what a shame.  After Laguna we headed into Los Angeles for meetings and very minimal sight seeing.  We stayed at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. This a great hotel with an even greater location.  We could see the Hollywood sign from our room…so cool!

This is really a quick overview of our time the past few months.  Like I said it has been crazy, overwhelming, and fun.  Who knew that a few Mila videos would become so popular.  We are still working on more videos, some with just Mila, and some with all of the kids so, stay tuned.  We really only make them when the kids want to so it’s always unknown when we will have our next one.  We are also going to dive into YouTube and post more vlog type videos!!  I was thinking of doing a Q&A…is there anything you want to know about us? Anything you are dying to ask? Anything you want to see more of?  Send me an email and I will do a post answering all of your questions. Thanks so much for all the support and sweet comments you all leave.  You guys really are the best followers and are ultimately the reason why I am able to be home with my kids….for that alone, I owe you tremendously.

And more random photos because you know, sometimes you just can’t decide which one to post on Instagram…LOL!!

Darling, don’t explain yourself to others. you have the right to do whatever you want in your own personal account and I don’t get why some people are still complaining about advertising on Instagram accounts because it’s so normal and so many people are earning money through internet. so please, don’t bother yourself and do what you think is right. I love and adore your family so much. xoxo 😘

Hi there! I started following you a couple of months ago because, let’s be real, your daughters are ridiculously cute. Recently, though, I was beginning to feel a little bit put off by all of the sponsored posts and the fact that your daughters were the ones being pictured in them (seemingly for sake of more likes). It was really bothering me and I was considering unfollowing for that reason, as it felt exploitative. I must say thank you for addressing that in this latest post as I can absolutely appreciate the fact that you were able to utilize this as a career so that you can be a full time Mom to your kiddos. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this comment. (I’m not one to comment on things in general). Have fun with your babies!

Love your social media. Your kids are hilarious. I admit that I get frustrated when “influencers” seem to do nothing but post sponsored content because it doesn’t seem authentic but you do a great job at balancing it. I have a couple questions you could use for your Q&A- 1-what was the catalyst behind the Mila (and Emma) videos? 2-who comes up with the video content and the lines? 3-Do the twins ever improvise? 4-who decides what kind of facial expressions and gestures they make? 5- lastly, I noticed you stay at local hotels a lot, is that also for work or are you a travel reviewer also? I’m especially Chris about the last one because I love a good hotel.
Tell the kids keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing now hilarious content

I am sooooo happy you now get to stay home with your family! That’s so wonderful to hear. Here’s a question: did your mom love halloween before the twins came along or has she always loved it? I look forward to seeing your pictures everyday and now Reagan says “is that Mila and Emma”???

I’m happy for you. I remember way back when encouraging you to quit your day job and call yourself a photographer. I’ve watched your transformation and when I started following could still scroll back to the beginning of your feed when your bio said something like warning 99.9 % of my pictures are of my kids, cuz I pretty much love them a lot.I appreciate how much effort and practice you’ve put into this journey, how much you have learned and how far you have come. You’re creative and it’s so obvious how much you love your family. Good on you for figuring out how to stay home, do something you live and get paid for it!

So happy for you that you are now able to be a ‘working’ stay-at-home mom’ to your kids!! Good for you for figuring out a way to do it! Yes, ppl get all funny about the sponsored #ads on IG, but a gal’s gotta make a living! Heck, if it’s good enough for Busy Phillips…..anyway, your kids are precious and I hope you get a hundred sticky kisses every day!

Looks like you had a great summer visiting family. I’m a fairly new follower so if I’m asking a repeat question I’m sorry but I’m so curious about the girls wearing diapers still. They seem so advanced for there age and I was wondering why they aren’t potty trained yet?

They are two but will be three on Halloween. Yeah I was pretty quick to potty train my other kids. They were all potty trained by two but this time was different. I was working full time up until a month ago and well there are 2 of them..LOL!! But we have been working on it this past week and it has been going pretty well. Sometimes when we are rushed or in a hurry I have put a pull up on them and well I guess those are also the times I snap a pic

Hi, I’ve only recently discovered you and your wonderful family on facebook and wait eagerly for new videos then I joined instagram to follow more (stalker much?) I just want to say how I love all the videos and the sweet photographs. I’m still constantly watching the ‘Charles being the middle child’ video because it brightens my day. You must be so proud of Kaitlen, it must have took a lot of work but the comedy value is fantastic. You have a beautiful family and the Mila and Emma no matter how cute must be hard work. I have a 22 year old daughter and 20 year old identical triplet boys and I remember all to well the sleepless nights then the toddler years ha ha! I cried laughing when you waited for them to fall asleep in the high chairs or when you photograph them when they fall asleep in strange positions or places. I used to let my boys stay where they fell asleep and just cover them with a blanket as i know as a Mum of multiples you get your peace when you can. I wish I had took more photographs and enjoyed them more with more quality family time instead of working and keeping house. They grow up so fast, keep enjoying every moment with yours and sharing them with us all. Regards Julie
